We desperately need a baby gate, but whoever designed our stairs didn't do it with a baby in mind. See those bottom steps? How can we get a gate that fits around them? I've found one that stretches around them, but I'd like something that won't put holes in our wall. Any ideas?

We had a similar problem with our stairs- only we had rails less than an inch thick to put a gate on. It looks like you could put a gate just two stairs up. Sammy can't do too much damage to himself on just two stairs. Maybe put a yoga mat or something at the bottom. I like the gates that screw into the wall, so you can open and close them easily, and kids can't knock them over.

i'm going to vote for putting the gate two stairs up too. its good to have some stairs to practice on. plus, holes can be patched. having a gate you can easily open and close will make you all happier in the long run. good luck!
