Well little Sammy is here and since I hate horrid labor and delivery stories, I'll just share the "exciting" parts. After about nine hours of Pitocin I consented to have an epidural, I really thought I was handling the pain quite well and so I was surprised how relaxed I felt when the epidural was put in. So relaxed in fact, that my blood pressure took an immediate nose dive and the baby's heart beat followed right after. Next thing I know I've got an oxygen mask on my face and there are lots more nurses in my room, we recovered quickly though, and just as everyone was calming down my youngest brother called my mom (who was in the room with us) to tell her he had decided to join the Marines! Seriously! Anyway, three hours later I ended up in the OR for a c-section. The last thing I wanted or expected but his head was positioned a little funny and he wasn't coming down. He ended up weighing eight lbs. six ozs. and 21 in. long! He surprised everybody, I thought I was on the seven pounder plan! We just got home last night, I sure hope we get this parenting thing figured out...

Lizzie,
Sorry the labor was so rough. I hope you are recovering ok...He is sure sweet. You will be a great parent...You will be surprised how much comes natural....Also, just think of all the absolute morons out there that have kids...you will do great!
Love the picture of Samuel's face. I'm glad you guys are doing well. What was your little brother (the future Marine) thinking?! How funny. Good luck with motherhood. If you need anything, I'm all ears :)
Liz figuring out the parenting stuff takes a lifetime , if we figured it out it would be boring , you will be great . just enjoy him they grow up so fast . Advice for c section recovery i have had three , when they say don't lift and vaccum they mean don't lift and vaccum and rest rest rest , your lucky you just have one baby , i rested for two weeks . you will do great and he is absoulty adorable . good work
You look good Liz. I think it is intersting how small Sammy looks being held by Matt and how big he looks being held by you. :) Before know it he will be bigger than you.
Contratulations!!! He's adorable! How fun, being a mommy is amazing! Except for the sleep-deprivation, I have to say that I don't enjoy that at all :) You'll be a great mom!
The Marines!??!? That's the point where you go into "Bridezilla" mode and start yelling through the phone, "This is MY DAY! How dare you ruin MY DAY!!"
He's super cute and I'm glad he's on the bigger side. Somehow they seem less fragile when they can't fit into "Newborn" sized clothes. Congrats! And let me know when you figure out the parenting stuff. I'm still waiting on figuring it out myself... ;)
Congrats, he's adorable. I'm excited to meet him someday!
Congratulations, Elizabeth and Matt! Tell your little Samuel that he has a pretty awesome mommy!!! I'm proud of you! He's absolutely beautiful!!! ;-)
