I have been planning a trip to New York for the past four months. I even created a wonderful customized Google map with all the sights I wanted to see on it. This weekend was finally The Weekend and we had a great time. We took the Chinatown bus up to NYC Friday afternoon and spent the evening walking around Times Square, visited M&Ms World and ate at John's Pizzeria in an old church. The pizza was so good, if I think hard enough I can still taste it in my mouth. We caught a shuttle bus to our hotel in Jersey and were back in the city by 10 am Saturday. The day started off at the Hells Kitchen antiques/flea market. There was a lot of cool stuff there, if I had a house and more than my two hands to carry things, I would have bought a lot more. For now, it was just fun to look. Then we walked to the New York Public Library, it's got some amazing architecture, a really neat place to see. By the time we were done at the library we were hungry, but still a good walking distance away from our lunch destination. So when we finally arrived at Gray's Papayas we were truly famished, the Recession Special, two hot dogs and a drink for $3.50 was great. I may note, that due to the recession, the Recession Special recently went up in price:( After hot dogs we went to Levain Bakery for the best and biggest chocolate chip cookie in the world, EVER! It must have weighed a pound, was stuffed with chocolate, nuts and crispy and gooey in all the right places. We took our cookies and ate them in Central Park. After walking through the park we took the Subway downtown to go for a ride on the Staten Island Ferry, the ferry is free and gives you a great view of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis island, and after walking around all day (25,000 steps according to my pedometer), it felt great to sit down for a while. Nearby is Century 21, the famous discount department store, I have to say I was a bit disappointed in this one, but I think it's one of those hit or miss places. Finally we ended up in Chinatown with all the cheap wallets, sunglasses and knock off bags your heart could ever desire, we had dinner there and caught the bus back home. Over all it was a great trip, we got to see everything we wanted to and made plans for "the next time we go back". Check out the pictures of our trip!

thanks for sharing lizzo! I loved the pics!!!
Sounds like loads of fun. Never been anywhere even close ... would love to try it someday.
Especially the pizza, hot dogs, m&ms, and chocolate chip cookies. Oh, and the Hells Kitchen Flea Market and library. 8]
sounds wonderful. But did you bring back one of those chocolate chip cookies for your dad?
Of course you would ask that Dad. We were going to but once we saw how big they were I decided it wasn't very feasible. I know, a lame excuse, and we didn't get you an "I heart NY" shirt either.
Forget the t-shirt. I want a cookie.
Hey Liz. I just realized you have a blog from Angie's blog. It's good to hear about your fun life. Sounds like a really cool day you had. I need to go to NYC, but my Matt has no interest in that. For some reason he has this thing against New York City. I can fly there for free though, so sometime I'll make it.
Lucky girl...sounds like a fun trip..
Wow! What a conincidence - I just had a 2 day walking trip to Chicago because my mom and sister came into town...I do not understand the appeal of a huge city...
