The Kennedy Center Open House

This weekend Matt and I went to the Kennedy Center's Open House for the Fall Season. Every year they have an open house with artists and performers from all over the country doing free concerts all day. It was a lot of fun, we saw the National Symphony Orchestra play 76 Trombones, Stars and Stripes and the themes from Jaws and Raiders of the Lost Ark. We heard a group called Project, they were really neat and I even videotaped them on my camera but the file is so big it's talking way to long to load. Do you guys compress your videos so that they upload easier? Ideas? Hints?
Anyway, we heard some Western Swing and watched people trying to swing or just having fun dancing. My favorite was the little old lady in a pink ball cap and a cane, moving as much as she could on the dance floor. Then we listened to what was called Kosher Gospel, imagine a black Jewish school teacher singing about the torah in Aretha Franklin style. It was pretty fun, if only I'd brushed up on my Hebrew before coming I could have sung along better. Finally we saw a performance called Step Afrika, a step show of several fraternities and sororities from across the country.
It was a fun day, we were only disappointed by one show, the rest of them were excellent and you can't beat the price! This weekend we're going to New York City, so if you have any recommendations just let us know!

Ahh, culture.
Love this place, but one that's one thing sorely lacking in this town.

Never been to NYC. HAVE FUN!!!

*sigh* I miss culture. But not as much as I don't miss traffic.

Ugh, it seems it's usually because of the traffic all the time that we don't get out to do and see the neat things that are out here.

Tommy told me how Nancy would say he needed some culture, then she would take him to a play or what not, that's great.
