Hell Hath No Fury Like a Woman Scorned, or Why Good Customer Service is Important!

I recently bought several wooden Eddie Bauer curtain rods for the new house. I was thrilled to find them 70% off at Joann Fabrics and figured, "they're Eddie Bauer, they should be quality, right?" These curtain rods were the biggest disappointment of my life. All of the holes going through the middle of the rods were off center and the rods themselves were bowed, so once the rods were connected they were even more bowed and crooked and just looked ridiculous. The holes were also too small, we had to drill them bigger. In addition, one package of rods I bought had two separate rods! They each had a different pattern and color on them, we had to use a pen to paint them the same color. I'm amazed we got the rods up, well, Matt got them up after using a few choice words, and they actually don't look too bad. I sent an email to the Eddie Bauer website listed on the box and was surprised to get reply with a phone number to call. Alas, the woman I spoke too asked where I got them from and then said, "you'll have to talk to Joann's, we're just a distributor like them and can't do anything." So now I have to decide if I want to take my complaint to Joann Fabrics or just continue to crusade against Eddie Bauer Home and Joann Fabrics. Conclusion, don't buy Eddie Bauer curtain rods, no matter how tempting the discount! And here's a pic of the final product, I should have different lighting or no flash.

I guess I'm not supposed to say "those look awesome!" All credit to YOU and not the manufacturer, of course.

Eddie Bauer stuff is not quality- it's kind of sad because their clothes from the stores are still good, but all their other stuff is just cheap and disappointing. (Yes, I haven been burned by that brand name too) I think it's funny though that you got a phone call, just to tell you they can't do anything.

Well, at least the curtains look AWESOME! Did you sew them? I think the rods really look good, too and before reading it I was wondering if you got the photo online :)

I am pretty amazed that we managed to hide the rods imperfections. And no Katie, I didn't make those curtains. I'm still fighting with the Roman Shades I'm making for the other windows, hopefully they'll be up this week and then I'll take pictures of the whole house!
