I've always thought these leashes are absolutely horrible, leash your child around like a common dog. Never ever will I put my child in one of those...
This week Sammy ran straight into the street, while a car was coming. I won't go into the details of that, but I'll paint another picture of Sammy's escapades. Last night we went to a "county fair" put on by the church. There was a nice big pavilion with a grassy area all fenced in. Lots of little kids running around and church families so I felt pretty comfortable just letting Sammy wander and have fun. I could pretty much watch him anywhere he went but was curious to see what would do when he realized Mom and Dad weren't anywhere in sight. I don't think he even noticed or cared. Ouch what a blow to my ego. But he did have a lot of fun, these are some of the things I observed him doing.
Climbing into all the little red wagons that families had brought.
Looking in all the infant car seats for babies.
Filling cups from the big Gatorade coolers.
At one point he sat right down in the middle of a family he didn't know, looked at a girl about 8-10 years old and excitedly said, "hi!". About a minute later he was sitting in her lap, and 30 seconds after that she was sharing her pie with him.
Well I guess Sammy didn't inherit any of my shyness and maybe I should start shopping for a leash, this little monkey backpack one is kind of cute.

Ever hear or read about free range kids? That's how we grew up.
Ha-you'll have to post pictures of Sammy on his leash :) He sounds so cute--like the world loves him and he knows it.
I always wanted to put James on leash with a zipline so he could roam around the yard without going into the street.:) Incidentally, I did buy a harness for him, and a retractable dog leash for it because it gave him more movement. I have no shame.
