Finally! I made a successful bolo de yogurt. This Portuguese cake is easy to make, at least it was in Portugal, I tried once just after I got home from my mission and it was a disaster. That was almost eight years ago so I figured I was ready to try it again. It's a very moist and light cake, here's the recipe if you want to try.
6-8 oz container of yogurt, any flavor. The yogurt container will be your measuring unit.
2 yogurt containers of sugar
3 containers of flour
1 container of vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
Mix all ingredients and pour into pan. Here's the tricky part, only a couple of the recipes I found actually gave a baking temperature, they said 180 and that was completely wrong. So I'm going to guess about 275 till its done.
Now I've got my cake fix, if only I could find a recipe for the chicken they made at the churrascuria in Matosinhos then I'd be in heaven!

I sense bole de yogurt in my very near future . . .
Thanks for the recipe- maybe the 180 degrees was in celsius?
PS- so if I use 8 oz of yogurt just in a one cup measuring cup, theoretically it would be 2 cups sugar and 3 cups flour right? All I have are huge containers of yogurt, and I don't think I want a cake that big . . .
Yes, 180 Celsius, 350 Fahrenheit and yes on the second question too.
NO WAY...I was actually thinking about that Cake the other day. Hey I have THE BEST CHOCOLATE CAKE Recipe EVER!!! If you are interested let me know...
I think that I will make the Bolo da Yogurt just for old time sake when we were fat and in Portugal!!!
I know you didn't eat that in our apartment when we were serving together. I seriously don't ever remember eating one of those that wasn't super-duper oily. Perhaps I should try your recipe.
I don't know where I picked up the bolo de yogurt, but I do remember us making num nums in Gaia!
It's a long way from burnt jell-o :)
